BF6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are protesting against several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun resorting to tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four categories of assignments, but where most only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring twelve from the forty-one key firearms present in the game.
Several of these gated guns could shortly find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Task
A different forum member highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.
However, when doing the challenges in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
