Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
